PROGRAMS & CLASSES

Healthy Eating, Activity, Lifestyle (HEAL) Program

This program is making a difference for people living with chronic conditions.  Participants work side by side our Exercise Physiologist to make healthier lifestyle choices.

The Healthy Eating, Activity, Lifestyle (HEAL) program is licensed and used by Exercise and Sport Science Australia and works to put clients in the driver’s seat so they can take control of their health.

Our Exercise Physiologist delivers this eight-week program in the Ipswich and Somerset regions to assist people living with chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

"HEAL has a no-diet philosophy and focuses on what clients can do as opposed to what they can’t do"

TYPE 2 DIABETES CLASSES

This program is delivered in our clinic and is helping people specifically living with Type 2 Diabetes to manage their blood sugars effectively with an hour of supervised, evidence-based exercise (including a slow warm-up and cool-down). Participants work with our Exercise Physiologist to increase their physical activity, and learn what they can do outside of the classes to optimize their sugar levels through increasing their physical activity and exercise safely and for their health concerns.

People with Type 2 Diabetes may also be eligible for up to 8 Medicare subsidised group services and 1 individual group services assessment in addition to their 5 individual visits most people with Diabetes are eligible for. There are timeslots offered for this program weekly with a maximum of 12 people per class. Once your subsidised services have been used up you are more than welcome to continue to attend the classes for a very reasonable fee. For more information please contact us.

Cost: $20/person/class. This service may attract a rebate through private health (please check with your insurer) or Medicare for persons eligible to access Type 2 Diabetes group services items (up to 8 sessions/calendar year).

  • Lancet (your blood pricker thingy);

bETTER BALANCE BETTER LIFE PROGRAM

This program is helping people having trouble with their balance to manage and prevent falls, improve their confidence and keep them out of hospital. We have designed this program for participants who are:

  1. Having falls at home or in the community;
  2. Considered to be high risk or are very concerned about falling at home or in the community; and/or
  3. Noticing a decline in their balance which they want to improve.

The Better Balance program is offered weekly at our clinic and requires participants to undergo an initial health screening prior to being allowed to participate in the program. If deemed to be appropriate you may be asked to obtain a letter of medical clearance and a medical history (summary) prior to participating in this program.

Participants can self-refer to this program or be referred by their GP or specialist with a referral letter. The cost for this session is currently $20/session/person. Private health rebates may apply (please contact your insurer for eligibility). Bookings are essential to avoid unsafe numbers, and limited spaces for this program are available.

Please note it is compulsory to bring a towel to each session and wear safe, comfortable appropriate exercise clothing (e.g. comfortable, non-restrictive, non-baggy clothing and enclosed footwear).
